Putin's Return to Larry King

The Moscow Times

No specific topics are set for the interview, which is to be recorded Tuesday, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, RIA-Novosti reported.

Putin appeared on Larry King Live shortly after becoming president in 2000. The interview is remembered for Putin’s answer to a question about what happened to the nuclear submarine Kursk, lost in the Barents Sea in August that year. Putin, who was criticized for his handling of the sinking, responded at the time: “It sank.”

King, 77, said in June that he would end his talk show after interviews with some 40,000 public figures over the course of his career.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly said Larry King has conducted interviews with 40,000 public figures since 1985. He actually has done interviews with 40,000 over the course of his whole career.
